Οι Campus Novel κατασκευάζουν ένα πεδίο συσχετισμών γύρω από τη συνθήκη του ύπνου μέσω τριών εγκαταστάσεων που διερευνούν τα συμπτώματα παραπραξίας στη διεκδίκηση της κηδεμονίας του από την παγκόσμια τάξη. Ο ύπνος συνιστά μια μονότονη περιοδικότητα και μια ύφεση της ανθρώπινης δραστηριότητας που βρίσκεται στον αντίποδα των προταγμάτων του νεοφιλελεύθερου τεχνοκρατικού συστήματος. Από την άλλη μεριά, η αφομοίωση του ύπνου καθώς και άλλων φυσικών λειτουργιών στο χρόνο της εργασίας, το χρόνο της κατανάλωσης και το χρόνο της αγοράς εξασφαλίζει στο σύστημα τον απαραίτητο χώρο εγγραφής του στο ανθρώπινο σώμα. Κατά αυτόν τον τρόπο, ο ύπνος αποκτά μια αμφίσημη θέση και εμφανίζεται είτε ως θύλακας αυτονόμησης, ρήξης και εκτροπής της ομοιογένειας του συστήματος είτε ως μηχανισμός χειραγώγησης και ελέγχου.
Η συγκεκριμένη μεταπαραγωγική διαχείριση αναπτύσσεται πάνω σε τρείς αρθρώσεις: το βιβλίο του Jonathan Crary, 24/7 Late Capitalism and the Ends of Sleep, την ταινία του Chris Marker, La jetée και στη δράση We are the receiving end of a mapping device in a blissful state of responsibility refusal, που πραγματοποιήθηκε από τους Campus Novel στη λίμνη Weissensee στο Βερολίνο το Μάιο του 2013.
Campus Novel construct a field of associations around the state of sleep. They develop three installations through which they examine the symptoms of a claiming procedure over sleep conducted by the system of global order. Sleep is a routine consisting in the abatement of human activity, which places it as the exact opposite of the demands of neoliberal technocracy. On the other hand, the affiliation of sleep, as well as other natural functions, to the time of work and the time of consumption provides the system with the opportunity to inscribe itself on the human body. Therefore, sleep acquires an ambiguous nature that makes it appear either as a factor of rupture or as a mechanism of manipulation and control.
This post-productive approach is based on three joints: the book by Jonathan Crary, 24/7 Late Capitalism and the Ends of Sleep, the movie by Chris Marker, La jetée and the performative work by Campus Novel We are the receiving end of a mapping device in a blissful state of responsibility refusal, conducted on lake Weissensee in Berlin in May 2013.
